God Knows Best
(Example Devotional)
“Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to this fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, go, throw yourself into the sea, and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” (Matthew 21:18-22)
Have you ever prayed and God answered in a different way than what you were hoping for? I have. When I was six my mama told me she was pregnant. I was really hoping for a sister because I already had two brothers and I’ve always hoped for a sister. I asked and prayed to God a lot and thought that God would definitely answer my prayer. The day we were going to find out if the baby was a boy or a girl we went to the mountains. My dad had a confetti cannon that had powder in it and he counted down and then powder shot out. The powder was blue. The baby was a boy. Seeing the blue powder made me feel like God did not listen to my prayers. I cried and was kind of mad and sad at the same time.
The night my baby brother was born, my mama had him at home and I got to be there to see him be born. Right after he was born, I got to hold him and cut his umbilical cord. That was special. Now Louis is a one-year-old and he is the best. I am so glad that God gave me him. God knew just what I needed.
